A New Car

After WEEKS of car trouble with both our cars--a broken widow and rear deferential (sp???) in Oliver's Ford Explorer and a new transmission in my Honda--we bit the bullet and got a new car. The straw that broke the camel's back? Two days after we picked up my Honda with a new transmission, the engine in Oliver's car died. Couldn't be fixed and to expensive to replace. What kind of car did we decide on? Well, if you know me very well you will not be surprised to learn--that we got a new Honda Accord. I LOVE it...I have never had a new car....so this is very exciting. This is my third honda accord. One reason I love Accords---my first Honda was responsible for Oliver and I dating. During the spring of our sophomore year, Oliver and I were "hanging out" but not dating...we had not had "the talk." For some reason (and I have no idea what the thought process was here) we switched cars. Oliver took my car to go visit his dad at a Methodist retreat in Grenada. He was sitting there waiting for his dad when an announcement was made that a silver car with Tate County tags was about to be towed. Oliver jumped up and ran to the parking lot. When he gets there, it is not my car that has to be moved, but another car from Senatobia. The car's owner, Mary Allison, looks at Oliver and says, "Who are you? You are NOT from Tate County?" Oliver then tells her that his GIRLFRIEND is from Senatobia. Of course, then Mary Allison grills Oliver about who she is and then says, "I go to church with her parents, I taught her in pre-school....I can't wait to tell her parents I met you." Oliver freaks out b/c I don't know that I am his girlfriend and my parents don't know he is my boyfriend. Oliver races back to Oxford to have the DTR (determine the relationship) talk with me before Mary Allison calls my mother! That was April 16, 2004--almost five years ago!

Spring Has Sprung

Spring has sprung...yesterday at 7:42 am. I have NEVER been so happy to see winter over. Oliver has been in Paris (TN not France....disappointing but they do have a mini Effel Tower) for the past three weeks but is finally home. He surprised me with these pretty spring flowers the other night. We have a really fun/busy spring planned. This weekend we had two fun parties. Young at Art had our ARTini party on Friday night and then we had a crawfish party on Saturday. Here are some pictures:

After ARTini at the Belmont Grill. Where's Watson?
Oliver ordered THREE fried appetizers: fried cheese, onion rings, and potato skins. All very needed after the super stout martinis....

Osiris Crawfish Party--May Walker, Lisa Campbell, Bowen Cook, Helene Harris, and me.....my friends are all much better at peeling crawfish than I am. Actually I don't pull them apart but I ate more than anyone....Oliver and the Cajun Crawfish guys picked them for me!
Oliver and Patrick lamenting about how much money they spent on girls on college.....and the girls they married....Patrick is from Sandersville, GA which is apparently a lot like Senatobia, MS.

Two Dollar Martinis

It's Wednesday night and I am home alone (Oliver is working in Paris, TN) watching Jon & Kate Plus 8. Anyway it's 8:46 and I am headed to bed real soon and feeling a little bit like a loser about it. I have always been an early bird, but this is getting a little ridiculous. Something (and I am not sure what) made me start thinking about how during my junior year of college Pearl Street had two dollar martinis on Wednesday nights. My friends and I went just about every Wednesday night. I LOVED the lemon drop martini. Here is a picture from one of those nights!
