Ice Skating!

We took the girls ice skating at the Pelham Civic Center on Monday --- Oliver was off for MLK day and it was fun to try something new.

Elizabeth Magee has been begging to go ice skating for a few weeks.  I thought that she might not like it once she fell -- however -- she did GREAT!  Mary Thorne also loved it.  They skated for over an hour.

Poppy did NOT love it.  She started crying when we put the skates on her.  She lasted about two minutes and then sat on the bleachers and watched us.

Elizabeth Magee's dance school, AL Ballet, does not have recitals :)  They do have parent watch days.  Last week we got to watch her dance....

Our library had a puppet show last week.  There was a big human size puppet that scared Poppy....she literally jumped 3 feet behind me when he came towards us.....then I caught this precious expression:
What BIG eyes you have my dear......

This weekend Poppy said she wanted a "new white car".  When I asked her where she would get the money she said, "It costs two pounds."  Her British Accent is SO funny...

CHRISTMAS!!!!

 Our Christmas was pretty much perfect this year.  We went to Senatobia the weekend before and we went to Greenwood over New Years.  We were home for the actual week of Christmas which was NICE.  The girls were so excited.  We went to the MBBC Live Nativity.  The girls played like they were Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus all week.  Our elf, Duck, left a Magic Christmas Tree Wand a few days before Christmas.  We said "Abracadabra" and turned our tree on and off 100 times a day.  On Christmas Eve, our elf left Peppa Pig pajamas.

There are so many things I want to remember about this Christmas!

Especially, that Poppy has the MOST extreme British accent at this point.  it's not a fake.  It's 100 percent of the time.  I swear the Queen of England does not say, "Hello, this is Poppy." more British than our Poppy.  It was really funny to see so much extended family over Christmas and they'd say, "Does she have a British accent?"  She has also called all Nutcrackers, "Nut crack crack"

Also, Mary Thorne walked into the Jewish Community Center (where I work out) the week before Christmas and says really loud, "Hey, where's the Christmas Tree?"  She also got a nativity scene from her teachers at school.  She was holding it in the car on the way to Senatobia (a four hour drive) and every time she dropped the Baby Jesus, she would SCREAM, "Where's baby Jesus?  I NEED MY BABY JESUS?" It was funny after the fact.  During the drive, not so much.





We got to spend some precious time with Caroline and learn that she's going to be a big sister in May!

Christmas Eve was special - we went to the Children's Service at church, Pops arrived in Birmingham, and we had a little Christmas Eve drop in and hosted some dear friends for a drink.  The kids made the day talking about Santa and wondering where he was at that moment.  

Christmas morning was my favorite.  All Elizabeth Magee asked for was another Lambie.  Luckily she was on Santa's good list.  Poppy wanted a red scooter.  Mary Thorne didn't really ask for anything but the Frozen Doll that sings and the Frozen soccer ball were big hits.  She got a purple scooter too.

Mary Thorne loves to blow dry her hair at night so she got her own, bright pink hairdryer!

We got to see Caroline a few days after Christmas too.  Elizabeth Magee wanted to wait and open her doll until Caroline was at our house.

Over New Years, we went to Greenwood.  Mark and Biscuit got the girls some plasma cars and got Elizabeth Magee a bike for their house.

Babbs had lots of treats.....and Sam and EM pick right up every time they see each other!

We left the girls in Greenwood and went to the Sugar Bowl with Garner and Martha.  It was fun few days.  I haven't been to New Orleans in YEARS.  We ate at: Dookie Chase's (wasn't that impressed but I do think that the Chef Leah Chase is inspirational) and Antoine's.  On New Year's Eve, we went to the Sugar Bowl Gala with our neighbors, Lindsay and Charlie Hussey.  A fun mix of my new and old friends!
