Happy Days

These spring days are sure happy, sweet days.   We have loved playing outside.  Mary Thorne's favorite new phrase is, "See-saw."  Our neighbors have one and we have "see-sawed" ourselves silly!

We had a college reunion of sorts this weekend.  One of Oliver's best friends is getting married in May.  He lives in Denver but his bride is from AL and they had an engagement party here on Saturday afternoon.  The fun started for us on Thursday and by Friday night I think we all felt like we were 19 and in college again.  It was so great to host our dear friends -- and the girls loved having so many "uncles" in town!

Elizabeth Magee joined me on my walk Sunday afternoon.  We weren't quite into workout mode but it sure was fun.  It won't be long till she can keep up with me on a run!

Babbs and JO sent the girls these fun little cameras.  Here is Mary Thorne saying, "CHEESE."  She has also discovered face time and LOVES to face time anyone that will talk to her --- any takers?????

Oliver gets husband/father of the year award for surprising me with this beautiful pastel of Elizabeth Magee.  I'm so in love with it.......the dress is one that my great-grandmother, Mammy, made for me when I was a little girl.  It's my favorite dress on her!

TWO are TWO

Mary Thorne and Poppy turned 2 on Monday.  What a big two years it has been.....we went from being a calm quiet little house to a loud rowdy house.

We celebrated all weekend.  On Friday I took the twins to Wal-mart to pick out their birthday party supplies -- Mary Thorne picked Frozen themed plates and balloons and Poppy picked Doc McStuffins.

Saturday our family and a very few close friends came to celebrate.   I wasn't sure how the day would go since Mary Thorne refused to put on her birthday dress and insisted on wearing ALL her bows!  Remember the episode from Friends where Joey puts on ALL of Chandlers clothes ----

Oliver and I made their cakes - The Minnie Mouse cake is for Mary Thorne and the Peppa Pig cake is for Poppy.  Poppy is obsessed with George and not Peppa.  She picked out that tiny dinosaur at Dollar Tree a few weeks ago and says, "roar."  She sleeps with it almost every night!  Poppy is also completely obsessed with the colors red and yellow.  Every time she sees a red car she screams "Yellow" only because she knows we will say, "Poppy that's a red car."  Then she always laughs....it's like her own little joke she plays over and over.

Poppy brought us hamburgers from Bo's store in Morgan City --- by far the best hamburger.  Luckily the rain held off till the late afternoon and we were able to eat outside.  The highlight of lunch was when Ticer picked up a lizard.  I think he even impressed himself.

When Elizabeth Magee turned 2 I put up all but a few of her gifts and we gave them to her throughout the year.  That didn't happen for the twins.  They knew, and their sister knew, there were lots of gifts and they were going to open them all!

Poppy got some dinosaurs and she went "roar."  By far the biggest hit with her (probably would have been the new baby doll but big sister quickly took that to her room and Poppy forgot about it....Elizabeth Magee on the other hand has been thrilled all week with her new baby, Emmaline --- we have no idea where her baby doll names come from!!!!!))

Mary Thorne got THREE dress up dresses.  This is so huge for her because she LOVES to dress up and we only had about 2 dresses.  This is one of my favorite things that Mary Thorne loves because it is unique to her.  Poppy and Elizabeth Magee have NO interest in dressing up.  But Mary Thorne loves to.  She ONLY wears pajama dresses (her favorite is the Ana dress in the below picture).  She wears in almost every night.  When she opened her first dress, an Elsa dress from Pops, her smile was so big and so sweet that mom and I both teared up!  The Mickey Mouse dress was a huge hit (thanks Holly!) and the fairy dress has been a huge favorite too (thanks Poppy)!  By the time she went to bed --- she was wearing all three at the same time.

We took a slight break from birthday celebrations to celebrate Palm Sunday a week early at church (our spring break is next week).   It rained for the Easter Egg Hunt and Picnic so we had it indoors.  Needless to say, the children didn't mind....

Monday was THE actual birthday celebration.  So we had Mickey Mouse waffles and sang Happy Birthday again.  Mary Thorne always has to have the red plate and Poppy the blue.

We took cupcakes to IPC for snack and their sweet teacher threw them a little party.....they have loved their birthday crowns!

Not Quite Spring

We have been longing for spring --- but it is still not here!  We had another "snow" day without any snow -- we are over it!!!
We've had a few nice days and enjoyed getting out and playing - especially with Daddy!
Manners are something we hope to accomplish real soon :)

Mary Thorne is obsessed with this night gown --she's calls it Ana -- it's really Elizabeth Magee's but I know what she's getting for her birthday!
Yesterday was nice enough for the park. Poppy is loving dinosaurs - she screams "Dino Dino" -- and she sleeps with a little green dinosaur!
Mary Thorne jumped in a big puddle As soon as we got to the park -- she screamed "Pig Pig" --- what she calls Peppa Pig. I think she was jumping in puddy puddles just like Peppa. She lost her pants to the mud and was thrilled to run around without pants!  Elizabeth Young and Mary Thorne are peas in a pod. I'm predicting college roommates is in their future!

Good Bye February

We are not sad to see February go and are VERY looking forward to Spring.  The past few weeks have been tough being stuck inside so much.....Mary Thorne was sick at the beginning of last week and then we were stuck at home under the THREAT of snow/ice in the middle of the week.  Needless to say, we've had a lot of inside time.

On the plus side, these two have turned into the best of buddies.  Which is a complete switch.....Mary Thorne used to follow Elizabeth Magee around like a puppy dog but now Poppy is the one that is obsessed with her big sister.

We spent all day Wednesday waiting for the snow.  It was predicted by 10 a.m., then 3 p.m., then 7 p.m.....finally around 8:30 p.m. a light DUSTING touched Birmingham.  Elizabeth Magee kept asking all day, "When is the snow coming?"  At around 5, we had popsicles by the fire and just gave up!

But then on Thursday morning, there was just a little snow to enjoy!

Tiniest snowman ever!

On Friday, I took Mary Thorne and Poppy to the new trampoline park --it's inside a movie theater so you can watch a movie or jump and have yummy popcorn.

Friday afternoon it was finally pretty enough to take EM and her bike to our "flat spot" to practice.  She's very good and very fast but she doesn't quite get how to brake.  And that's a hard thing to explain to a 4 year old!
