Dog Days of Summer

Elizabeth Magee is such a little mama.  She loves to "help" her sisters eat, hug and kiss them.  Just this week she's started to try to pick them up.  But there is only about 6 pounds difference so they just end up in a pile on the floor.

We've developed a new little routine of going to swing in pjs before bed.  It's a nice way to end a summer night.

There are so many things I love about this picture.  Mainly the googles.  I love how much these two love each other.

I was trying to be the fun mom and bought this big sprinkler ball at Bargain Hunt for $10 on Saturday. I thought they would love it....as they are obsessed with all balls but it completely freaked them out.  Or at least two of them.....Mary Thorne loved it!

Elizabeth Magee has been taking a yoga class at the JCC on Fridays.  She loves to show you down dog and Poppy will do it too!

Summertime

This picture is blurry but I love it.  Oliver said the other night that if you read this blog you probably don't know he exists.  But we love him so and these girls are crazy about him.  When Poppy gets some sunglasses she  hardly ever takes them off.  We are all ready for Mary Thorne to talk -- we've termed her current speech squawking.  Elizabeth Magee has grown up so much -- after a week of taking Lambie to VBS and clutching it all day I was worried if she would ever stop taking him everywhere and if we were going to have to take him away for kindergarden.  BUT then....she didn't take him to ballet camp one day.  Then on Friday she told me to leave him in the diaper bag at the JCC.  Then today we didn't even ask for him!  I'm learning that with Elizabeth Magee things have to be done on her timeline.  Now if she would only decide to give up the pull-up at night!  Her newest response to everything I say is, "Ok, mommy."

We enjoyed our time with Siggi so much last week.  And even though this picture is blurry it is proof that we have been living at the pool!  EM has gotten so confident in her swimming and jumping.  The twins are also loving it....even if they don't quite get the head above water thing.....

Our fun weekend!

This weekend some of our dearest friends from Memphis came for a visit.  I felt like we were on a mini-vacation!  We miss them dearly and it was fun to show off our new town -- it's hard to believe we've lived here almost two years!

Saturday morning we took a long walk, let the girls play at the playground, went to the candy store, and played some more at City Hall's fountain and chess set.  Emily and I got to go shopping during nap time and then we all went to the pool after naps.  Needless to say, the children were exhausted!

These babies all played so hard and so well together!  Elizabeth Magee is 13 months younger than Virginia and 9 months older than Dorothy -- so they all played together great.  The twins loved to play with Thomas -- he was so quiet all weekend I kept forgetting he was here!

We got a babysitter Saturday night and went to Gian Marcos.  Of course the food and wine were great and the company even better!  It's been a way to long since we've had such a fun weekend with Emily and Sean!

Elizabeth Magee started ballet camp on Monday and so far so good!  She and Annie are having a BLAST and are so cute.  Cathy and I hid behind the wall and peeked a little yesterday.  Oliver and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on Monday -- it was quite under-celebrated but that's ok!  We went to get dessert at the Cheesecake Factory.

Sweet Sweet Summer

We've been spending our mornings at VBS and our afternoons at the pool this week.  It's been overcast and a little rainy but that's alright -- it just means we don't have to wear sunscreen :)  I have absolutely NO pictures of the pool or VBS.  It is not physically possible to get my phone out of the bag at the pool BUT the girls are all loving it.  This is the first week that Poppy has floated in the water and not been attached to my hip.  In typical Mary Thorne fashion, she's not scared and is everywhere in the water.  Elizabeth Magee has warmed up (after a few first tearful trips) and is now jumping off the side and going under.

Mary Thorne and Poppy are both getting another round of teeth.  Poppy has four coming in.  I can't feel any in Mary Thorne's mouth but the drool is outrageous.    Elizabeth Magee likes to pick out everyones pjs after bathes.  The other night she insisted Poppy wear mismatched pjs with a flower top and monkey bottoms.  Well Poppy didn't sleep well that night (probably b/c of those 4 teeth) but the next day EM was asking me 1000 why questions and asked me why Poppy didn't sleep.  I made the mistake of saying it was bc her pjs didn't match....AND now we are so very obsessed with only matching pjs :)  Now EM tells them at night..."your pjs match you can sleep"

Vacation Bible School has been so much fun.  EM is in a class and when she sees me with my class she smiles and waves and then goes back to her activity.  I love to peep in her door and watch her when she can't see me -- it's been my favorite part of the week.  I heard her tell a little friend that was crying today that, "It's ok Towns...your mama is coming back."

A Week in MIssissippi

Growing up my sister, brother and I always spent a week in Alabama with my grandparents.  Some of my earliest memories are at the house -- just little clips of memories but I remember my grandmother making hot chocolate, I remember going to the zoo, and seeing their roaster.  I also remember being scared to death of the stuffed fish on the wall in the guest room.  Anyway, I'm so thankful that my girls have grandparents to visits and grandparents that are willing to take all 3 at one time!  I realize Elizabeth Magee is starting to make lifetime memories and its neat to think she might have made her first memory this past week!  The girls had a great week in Mississippi.  I think they wore everyone out.  The picked up only a few bad habits (Mary Thorne came home and promptly climbed up on my bed to race across and fall into the pillows) and I think they got closer to each other.  Since they've come back I've noticed that Elizabeth Magee is more concerned for her sisters (she opens the door to the stairs and tells me she is watching them walk down.....sweet but doesn't quite get the safety issue there).

We had a great time at the Ball of Roses.   It's been a few years since Oliver put on his tux and we went out like that -- much fun and I'm already looking forward to next year!

Elizabeth Magee is a little confused about what to do with a water gun.  I caught her using it as a bottle for her baby doll last week.
