SHARK

Another beautiful day at the beach!  We've fallen into our little vacation routine and its so nice.....I wish we could stay a month!  This picture was right after Elizabeth Magee face planted from the beach chair into the sand.  More thing didn't even cry!
Elizabeth Magee and Oliver have to share the "shady" chair.....I get the sunny one with my book (Beach Music, Pat Conroy) all to my self.

Family picture.  We were trying to get the shark in the back ground. Yes, as in 7 foot shark 15 feet off the beach.  Two of them showed up around 11:30 this morning.......it was amazing how quick the water cleared.  He showed up again around 4:00 this afternoon.  We were up in the condo but could see his big fin and the water cleared very quickly.  In 28 years, I've never seen a big shark that close to the beach.  Pretty scary really....good thing I never get in the water past by knees.

We tried to take a Christmas card picture last night.  Not so good.
We love the beach and our time here if passing way to quickly.

Beach

Our trip down had a few unexpected turns -- Net had a fall at Thomas's house and cannot make the beach. Keep her in your prayers! She insisted we continue on our way and Elizabeth Magee played peak a boo on the way down.

Our condo is amazing. This is the view from the ceiling to floor window in the living room. The condo has just been renovated -- every room has a huge flat screen.

We hit the beach early this morning -- before 8! We only introduced Elizabeth Magee to the water and then came back for naps.

We hit the beach again around 11. The baby pool was a pain to fill up with the little yellow bucket. We didn't get it full.

The little shower is so fun for baby girl. We are going to visit it again after naps this afternoon.

Kiddie Pool

Elizabeth Magee visited the real pool for the first time today. Only one word to describe her and the pool --- FEARLESS!!!! She stands up and then throws herself flat down under water. Every time I'd pull her right up and she would start laughing.

Isn't this dress sweet? My grandmother made for me a long time ago. I love that children's clothes can last for generations. This is how I'm justifying all my Women's Exchange purchases.

One More Pic and Instagram

One last picture from our so fun weekend......I wish we had Facebook during our Freshman year at Ole Miss because I'm pretty sure we took a pictures JUST like this one.....but sadly Facebook didn't make an intrance until our Sophmore or Junior year.....so most of my pictures are saved on some old desktop that doesn't work!

Another thing I learned about this weekend (thanks Liv) was Instagram.  I downloaded it on the IPad last night (no blackberry) application yet -- so if your on follow me at:  jgw1928 --- it's like twitter, but pictures instead of words....so you don't have to be nearly as clever!

Pillow Reunion - His and Mine

This weekend was pretty special.  It was Oliver's 10 year class reunion at Pillow Academy.  That was the official title of the weekend.  BUT to me....it was my 10 YEAR reunion to the person that I spent my college years with and met 10 years ago this August!  She is also Elizabeth Magee's "fairy god mother" because before I met Liv, I didn't know there was such a thing!  Liv also introduced me to lots of things:  Mexican Dominos, Lake Martin, Birmingham, Eloise, Bobbi Brown make-up, pilates, and more things that I could name in one post!  Lucky for me, Olivia married Bobo, one of Oliver's best friends from high school....so...we had a very fun weekend catching up, sharing our favorite old memories, and making new memories!  Don't we look tan -- we invaded the Greenwood Country Club and laid out for 2.5 hours on Saturday - it was glorious!

We also ate at Lusco's....which is such a fun place to eat and extra special for Olivia since Lusco is her maiden name and her kinfolk started the place (and her distant cousins still own it)!  Special thanks to Poppy for keeping Elizabeth Magee entertained this weekend....they officially made friends and Elizabeth Magee didn't make a peep when I dropped her off Saturday afternoon!  Her big cousins, Strain and Graham Howard, also deserve some new toys for letting her tag along with them!

Eyes

Elizabeth Magee's left eye cannot catch a break.  After falling yesterday morning and getting a bruise under her eye, a mosquito bites her top eye lid yesterday afternoon.  Oliver's 10 year class reunion is this weekend and I think we may have to put a little cover up on EM's eye so no one call DCS!

A favorite morning ritual is make-up time.  We started this when she was old enough to sit on the bumbo and watch.  Now, she sits in my lap and "helps."  The blush and eyeliner are her favorites.  Elizabeth Magee is OBSESSED with trying to put tops and lids on their containers.  My eyeliner will entertain her for a good twenty minutes.

First Tumble

Elizabeth Magee took a tumble walking up the front steps this morning.  In addition to the bruise under her eye, she has a scraped up knee and a little bruise on her shoulder.  I'm sure it's the first of many tumbles and bruises to come!  On the otherhand, I think the bruise makes her eyes look even bigger and bluer!

Mother's Day #2

Mother's day last year - Elizabeth Magee was eleven and a half weeks.  I was so so tired!  This time last year, I had no idea how much FUN motherhood would be!  It amazes me how fast E. Magee is getting....she is walking much more than crawling....I imagine this will be the last week she crawls at all!
Saturday we had a full day - Junior League 5K, birthday party, visits with Pop, Biscuit, and Poppy, and spent some time at the Memphis Public Library because the weather was gloomy...

Our neighbor turned 2 --- we took the train up and down Eastland!
On Thursday night, we had one last fun hooray with our cousins -- Peabody Ducks!

Third Cousins

A special special weekend!  Elizabeth Magee and her third cousin, Ellie, meet and had a grand time!  Trying to get a picture of two sisters, two second cousins, and two third cousins -- harder said than done....so I'm hoping that Margaret got a good picture of all on her camera!

This is my favorite of these two...if they are anything like their great-grands....watch out :)

We also enjoyed seeing Thomas and Laura....
Saturday morning pancakes with Daddy in front of the TV........we enjoyed our weekend to the fullest and look forward to a fun week!

The Rest of the Weekend

I'm not sure how this post will look because it seems that the blogger updated itself since my last post....so if the pictures are funky and out of place.....I'll try to do better next time.

Net came to Memphis on Saturday afternoon so that she and I could attend the Memphis Flower Show at the Dixon.  AMAZING.  I'm not sure what I was expecting - but Memphis has some talented gardners!  Each Garden Club was given a painting to interpret with an arrangement -- they were pretty creative....the best in show is below....you can kinda see the painting behind it...it was from the Nashville Garden Club.  There was also a room of hats that had been modeled after a picture.  This flower hat was the best in show --- I think it was my the Memphis Garden Club!

Saturday night kicked off Carnival for us with the Osiris Red and White party....the house was beautiful and very inspiring!
Sunday Oliver washed his car.....and Elizabeth Magee picked up a rag and toddled over to her car.....we've promised her a brand new Kozy Koupe when she starts REALLY walking....which is going to be by the end of the week!
Elizabeth Magee loves a bag already.  I know that  I have a good fifteen minutes of peace if I let her take everything out of my purse or diaper bag.  Oliver's briefcase is the newest bag of choice....she crawls over to it and empty it flat in about two minutes....then, she buts everything back into his file box.
