One Month!

Poppy and Mary Thorne were one month on Tuesday!  I can't believe how fast the month has gone by!!  This has also been our first week without any help -- and I don't know that we would have survived if it hadn't been for Aunt Cin coming to help two days!  

Poppy is in the pink and Mary Thorne in the white. We'll get their weights at their one month appointment next Monday.  Overall, they are such good babies.  They eat every four hours and sleep great at night.  Mary Thorne has an extremely fussy time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. -- thinking she may have a touch of colic except that she stops crying if you pick her up.....

I took all three to Target yesterday -- it was our first time to get out of the house by ourselves!  I was very proud of myself!

Doesn't this picture just show you pure joy???  I don't know if we would have survived without Cathy and Annie.  Elizabeth Magee breaks out into a smile if you even mention Cathy, Annie, or Annie's daddy (he doesn't have a name to her yet).....she loves going to play and has been invited a lot lately :)

Here's a picture of Elizabeth Magee at 5 weeks -- they both resemble her to me!  This blog post said that EM was 7.2 pounds at one month.....

Three Weeks

I can't believe we've been home two weeks today and the twins were three weeks on Saturday.  Time is flying.  We've been very busy just taking care of our girls.  Thank God for our wonderful families.  I don't know how we would have survived without them.

Siggi left last Sunday (after two weeks).  I cried and cried.

Net came with Dad to pick up Mom and meet her latest great-grands....needless to say she approves!

This little lady has adjusted much better than I expected at being a big sister.  Her new favorite toy?  This CPR doll from the NICU.  She calls him "Uncle Thomas."  She runs around the house calling, "Uncle Thomas!"

 Poppy came the week after my mom left.  She slaved away all week....and Elizabeth Magee started referring to Poppy and "Baby Poppy."  Very cute.

We figured out this is how the twins like to sleep.  Or at least how Poppy likes to sleep....with her head touching Mary Thorne.  It amazes me that one can be sleeping and the other screaming in the other ones face.  Ms. Dot walked in yesterday to Poppy screaming in Mary Thorne's face and Mary Thorne sound asleep and holding Poppy's hand.

Our dear Memphis friends came to visit yesterday -- made my day!  Harris is so cute and I can't believe he's six months!  Elizabeth Magee went to bed last night saying, "Mommy's friend" "Harris" "back."  Oh I hope they come back soon!!!

This morning Elizabeth Magee said, "I love you" to me for the first time!  She's also said some really cute things lately that I want to remember -- she says, "too heavy" if something is too small (like when she tries to sit in the boppy or put on the twins' hats).  She has also started saying, "no please."

First 48 Hours Home

In the first 24 hours we used 24 diapers.  Overall, our first forty hours home have been easier than expected...but still a little stressful!  We haven't taken one picture on the "real camera"....these are all iPhone pics.  Both babies had their first baths today....but not one picture taken.

We got home about 1:30 on Tuesday.

  
We "hid" the babies from Elizabeth Magee after mother's morning out so that she would take a good nap.  After nap, we showed her the babies and gave her a puzzle from the babies.  Which she promptly dropped on her foot...it was one of those heavy wooden puzzles...so it really hurt.  So far, she's more jealous of Siggi holding the babies than me.  Every now and then she says, "baby up."

I think spending the first 10 days in the NICU made these babies very content...which is good b/c Siggi and I are so busy we don't have time to hold them all day!  They literally eat, burp, get swaddled, and are laid down in the pack and play until it's time for their next feeding.  The NICU did help us adjust to a 4 hour schedule....which is amazing considering I think EM was 3 months before she went to a four hour schedule.  I didn't know a newborn could start out on a 4 hour schedule.

At our first doctor's appointment, Mary Thorne weighed 5.9 and Poppy weighed 5.2.  Neither cried a bit when they got their heel pricked....another plus for the NICU.  We have several follow up doctor appointments:  cardiology (heart murmur) for Poppy, hip ultrasounds for both (b/c Mary Thorne was breech), and dermatology for Poppy -- she has a birthmark on her right knee that might be a hemangioma

We've set up a make shift temporary nursery in a side room off the kitchen because the downstairs of our house is 10 degrees colder than the upstairs...and we are trying our best to keep these babies warm. We love our "Welcome Home" sign from Mac and Cami!



We always lay Mary Thorne on the left and Poppy on the right.  We cover them with their name quilts...name showing.

And we love love love our visits from Aunt Cin and cousin Reese!

Easter

 Elizabeth Magee had a FABULOUS Easter.  I believe if she could tell you she would say her favorite thing about Easter was the 7:30 a.m. Easter Egg hunt at Aunt Cin's house.  400 eggs.  All hidden in their beautiful home....and a special section only for the youngest hunter.....look at her fabulous faces:

Sis and I took Elizabeth Magee to Mae Jackson's birthday party on Saturday morning.  We grasped the concept of egg hunting by half way through the egg hunt!

A little funny:  the doctor that delivered the twins, Mary Adams was there with her little girl.  What a small world!  We spent two Saturdays in a row together -- one in the Operating Room and one at an egg hunt!

 After the Egg Hunt, Daddy, Siggi, and Elizabeth Magee went to church.  Her Monkey class had another little Easter Party.  Afterwards, Sis and I met them back at Aunt Cin's for Easter lunch...were Melissa hide even more eggs for EM.  When it was time to go home for nap, Elizabeth Magee kept saying, "Back Cindy's...Back Cindy's...." 

 On Easter evening, Poppy got to meet the twins.  They made it in time for the 9:00 p.m. feeding.  Here is the first picture of the original Poppy and my Poppy.  It was also special to have both grandmother's feed the twins at the same time.

 

On Saturday, the girls turned ONE week.  Sis and I took some pictures in the NICU.  Since Saturday was a crucial day for both girls to keep their temperature, we didn't unwrap them for the pictures.  They are both wrapped in three blankets in these pictures....and Poppy has on three hats.

With Daddy after work on Monday -- our last night in the NICU -- WHOO HOO -- they will be home TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
