Funnies

We haven't been doing anything real exciting these past few days but this stage of life is so precious and funny that I've been trying to record a few of the funny thins the girls have doing and saying.

Elizabeth Magee has been carrying around a little cooler - like the kind that can hold 6 beers and has
a shoulder strap - for the last few days.  Her friend Ticer had one at the playground last week and she was so excited that her daddy had one she could play with....she has all kinds of treasures in there.  Anyway, this morning getting ready for school she said, "Look what I can do Mama, I can hold two babies AND open my cooler with one hand."  I about died it was so funny.  Oliver doesn't think it's that funny that she's so obsessed with the cooler.

Poppy and Mary Thorne have learned so much with potty training.  They now say "yes, m'am" and "no, ma'am."  They both can pick out certain colors.  They have also learned about candy.  Mary Thorne runs to the potty saying, "I tee tee.  I tee tee."  As soon as she uses the bathroom, she screams, "NANDY" - her word for candy.  After our two bags of lollipops were gone, we've stopped potty treats but every now and then I'll get a bag of candy out and Poppy will say, "blue."  She wants the blue piece -- doesn't matter if it's an M&M or a sucker.  She'll take the blue.  If Elizabeth Magee has bubble gum, Poppy says, "bubble."  

Elizabeth Magee is really into drawing and coloring....we color for hours everyday.  Some one recently told me about this website and she's loved drawing along.  Mary Thorne is really into wearing Elizabeth Magee's clothes.....all of them dresses, shoes, pajamas, any of them!

Sweet Conversations

These two picked gum balls over donuts.  Elizabeth Magee got a white one and was about to cry and I was about to say, "You get what you get and you don't pitch a fit" when I realized that white gum balls won you a bag of bagels!  I gave her another quarter! Ticer and Elizabeth Magee walked hands around each other the whole way from the Village to the Tot Lot.  I wish I could have heard the whole conversation but Holly heard Elizabeth Magee say, "My daddy doesn't like me to like boys."

This picture sums them up so perfectly right now.  A sweet friend gave Poppy some hand me down crocks earlier this week.  And she won't take them off.  She loves her a baby doll.  She is not attached to any particular one.  She is learning so much.  She knows the colors blue, yellow, red, and green.  Elizabeth Magee is the ring leader.  They would follow her to the moon and back.  Mary Thorne has really hit a growth spurt.  She is also so independent these days.  She insists on trying to put on her own shoes and clothes.  She will for a solid 10 minutes before she will let you help her.  She loves princess dresses and tutus.  Her favorite book right now is Pete the Cat.  We read in 1,000 times a day.  When she has to potty, she grabs the book, runs for the bathroom, stills me to "sit" and "cat" (her way to say, you sit and read me this book).

I threatened to spank Poppy this morning for coloring on the wall (something she does constantly) and Elizabeth Magee said, "But mama she's my best friend,"  Melted my heart!

So Proud - No Diapers in This House

The last week has been bitterly cold in Birmingham.  It was 9 degrees for two days last week.  So instead of staying inside and whining about it......we decided to stay inside and potty train!  The twins have been diaper-less since Wednesday and it is finished!  We've gone from babybed and $30 a week on diapers....to no babybed and no diapers!  I could not be more proud of my girls! 

 Mary Thorne and Mary Wells are fast becoming best friends (they have good role models in their big sisters).   Look at those crossed ankles?????

I found this picture from Christmas and I just love it...I don't think I posted it before.  Tonight Elizabeth Magee was talking on her "phone" to Siggi and said, "We'll see you at 2:30 tomorrow Siggi....do you hear me?"

Christmas, New Years, and BIG GIRL BEDS

We left Bham the day after Christmas and went to Greenwood for two nights and then Senatobia for two nights.  It was fun having family around.....Mary Thorne loved it the most even if you can't tell it from the above picture!  We loved being with Sis --- even though I have NO pictures from our time in Senatobia!

I showed up in the same outfit as Mac for the Williams family Christmas.  Aunt Kim thought it was hysterical and redid my hair to match.  I think they all thought it was pretty funny!

Saturday morning we took down the crib.  I've thought that Poppy has been ready for a big girl bed for a few months. I'm still not sure that Mary Thorne is ready.  Naptime today was interesting....I put them down for nap and Poppy said, "Night Night Mama."  We locked the door to prevent any break outs but Mary Thorne had it unlocked in under 3 minutes.  They came out a time or two and then settled into bed.  Oliver is adding a lock to the outside of the door.

Poppy has fallen out one time (no rails) and we watched Mary Thorne get out of bed, go and pat her, and then get in her own bed again.  Made my heart melt!

 Oliver, Garner, and I went to the Peach Bowl in ATL on New Years Eve.  The game was HORRIBLE.  But this picture of the girls is so so cute.....Biscuit and Big Girl Poppy came to stay for a few days (and drove the girls and me back from Mississippi).  Elizabeth Magee told Biscuit she could not come back because she "kept making up all the rules."  But I don't think she meant it because last night she was coloring a picture for Biscuit but said she didn't want to mail it --- she wanted Biscuit to come get it!

 
Poppy is very into asking, "Why?"  If she gets on a roll, she'll ask you "Why?" 50 times.  Yesterday in the car she was asking Why after everything.  Eventually Elizabeth Magee said, "Poppy, you must stop saying why."  To which Poppy paused and replied, "No."

Elizabeth Magee starts school back tomorrow so I feel like Christmas break is over!  It sure was a merry happy Christmas!
