Kindergarten

We just finished the second week of school!!!!  The first day of Kindergarten was filled with all sorts of anxiety (mainly mine)!  But Elizabeth Magee did great!  She met her teacher the day before and say her classroom and locker.

Oliver met us at the school to walk her in the first day.  He didn't understand why I was crying???!

Elizabeth Magee was SO nervous but there were NO tears....see Lambie sticking out of her locker??  Thankfully she saw her best friend from 4K, Marnie, right before she walked in her classroom.  A quick hug and they both felt better!!!

Mrs. Mooney is Elizabeth Magee's 5K teacher.  This is her 28th year at Crestline and she means business.  But she's kind and has a real heart for these children!

All the mamas were waiting outside right at 2 (they got out at 2 for the first week)....I think we all had a harder day than they did!

Walking home we heard Elizabeth Magee tell Elliott that she was so tired and asked her, "Don't you just want to go to bed for months?"

Two weeks in we seem to be developing into the "real" school routine!  She is SO tired when she gets home in the afternoon.  But we've adjusted to getting up at 6:15 and being out the door by 7:30.....

The Fair

There is only two days left of summer!  Before we start kindergarden I wanted to catch up the blog from the summer.

The last week of July we went to the Neshoba County Fair.  As always it was the highlight of the summer.  I took the girls by myself and was a little worried how that would go -- but they did great!  No matter what your age, the Neshoba County Fair is SO FUN!

We loved getting to spend time with Audrey!

We have reached the point where the mid-way is the highlight of the day.   The girls spent all day every day asking when we could go ride.....next year I'm going to have to rob a bank to go!

Is there anything better than spending your day on a cabin swing?????  This is Oliver's favorite part of the Fair!

Sweet Poppy's favorite ride was the Ferris Wheel.

It rained one day so Wade got a bunch of duct tape and cardboard and paper plates and made boats to race in Dookey Creek.

Elizabeth Magee FELL into Dookey Creek right before we left to come home.  I didn't get a picture but in the picture below you can see a little bit of the rope swing.  I told her NOT to let go......and she did.....and it was really gross but she wasn't hurt!

Beach - Edisto

We spent a week in Edisto with Mom, Dad, Net, Sis, Ryan, and the five kids!  It was such a great week of fun and the girls really got to know their cousins.

I hardly have any pictures of Mom or Elizabeth Magee.  They literally spent almost every waking minute in the ocean.  I think Elizabeth Magee figured out that if she got Siggi in the water, she'd have her to herself!

Poppy was sick a few days and got to spend a lot of time playing Jenga with Net.

Mary Thorne is going through this phase where she wants you to draw her pictures (she's the director, you're the artist) for HOURS......

Last year we saw sea turtles begin to hatch.  This year - we saw the whole thing.  Oliver and I were walking on the beach and saw a crowd start to gather.  When we went over the "Turtle Patrol" told us that the nest was about to hatch.  Oliver got Elizabeth Magee out of bed to come watch.  Sure enough about 30 minutes later, 113 sea turtles hatched and crawled into the sea.

Got to love a naked beach dance!!!!!

VBS - times two

Between our trip to the Bahamas and the girls spending a whole week in Senatobia, I feel like our little family was apart for most of June.  The two big events in June for the girls were two different VBS-  both "Surf Shack - Catch the Wave of God's Amazing Love" -- our church and FUMC in Senatobia  did the same VBS theme this year and the girls learned a lot and had so much fun at both!

I knew Elizabeth Magee would LOVE VBS -- especially in Senatobia where Siggi was her teacher.  I wasn't sure how much the twins would get out of it but they are little sponges.  Mary Thorne especially loved all the singing and walks around saying, "Remember that the Lord is great and awesome."

One day during VBS, during Bible Times, the children got to the choir loft and hear the organ (our organist was really sweet and played some kid songs so they LOVED it on those big pipes) and see the pretty stained glass.  On the Sunday after VBS, we are driving to church and Poppy says very loudly, "God is stuck in the windows."  We tried out best to explain to Poppy that God is NOT stuck anywhere....but she wasn't convinced.  When we sat down in church, I looked up at the stained glass windows......I guess I can see how she thought that:

The VBS story on Thursday, was Jesus calming the storm.  After VBS in Senatobia, the girls went to Net's pool to swim.  The wind was blowing.  Mary Thorne looks up, raises her hands and says, "Stop."  Of course the wind does not stop. She looks at Mom and Net and says, "The wind isn't listening."  Siggi had to tell her it's because she wasn't Jesus.....

I loved that they had so much fun in Senatobia.  They played with new friends and I hope they can do it again next year!

Island Time

We've been on a little Bahamas vacation this past week. It included lots of rest and relaxation.  Much needed and much appreciated!

My favorite dinner was at the One & Only --- the lobby had some amazing artwork!

I love this one of the lovebirds--- you can't really tell but the spots of color in the painting are globs of paint made to look like people dancing!
And I loved this picture of teenagers jumping. I would love a picture of my girls doing this in 15 years!

Our waiter offered to show us "the real Bahamas" -- for a small fee --- and we really learned a lot. We saw the Greek Ruins, went to a fish market and watched them cut the conch out of the shell, went to the rum factory and got cake, he took us to the Queens staircase, and even went to his parents house and met his parents.

We took a ferry ride into downtown Nassau one morning.

We stayed at Harbor side Atlantis. Our balcony was surrounded by some of the biggest boats I've ever seen! We kept waiting for an invitation to go on board!

May Days

May is fastly turning into June. Last week we had our last day of school. Elizabeth Magee graduated from IPC --- what a sweet, special day!

Her BFF Ticer -- I hope this sweet friendship can withstand different elementary schools!

Ms Knight has been such a blessing to our first baby!  This child loves loves school -- and her teachers. We checked a Dick and Jane book out from the library last week and she READ the whole book. I was beyond shocked!
Her 4K best friend, Marnie. I've added to my prayer list that they are in the same class in kindergarten!

Elizabeth Magee's friend Grace. Who had cancer and kicked its butt!  Grace has shown EM how to brave this year!!!

The twins started swimming lessons last week.  Everyday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. we've been swimming.  EM has loved every second because she just gets to play.  The twins both screamed until last Friday, then started LOVING it, and then yesterday both cried the whole time....SO one step forward and two steps back!

We've been to the JCC pool a few times this week and they are really swimming and having fun there.

Soccer wrapped up last week.  Mary Thorne didn't finish the season as strong as she started it....she would barely play the last two games.  So again, one step forward and two steps back!  But she has loved loved "coach."  She asks 10 times a day "where's my coach"......

Siggi and Frank came to watch our last soccer games.  Elizabeth Magee LOST it when she had to tell them bye.....it was the first time I've seen her show so much emotion!  Of course Mom and I both started crying and I think Dad said something about getting an apartment :)

Summer days are here and we are so excited about early morning scooter rides and going to the zoo!  Here are so fun pictures from the week!
